Hurricane Michael reached a high-level of category 4 intensity never before seen in the Florida Panhandle. Before making landfall near Mexico Beach, Florida, it reached windspeeds of 155MPH. By January 2019, 57 deaths were reported in the United States.
Hurricane Michael was the third-most intense Atlantic hurricane to make landfall in the contiguous United States, and the most intense since Andrew in 1992.
